Ahoy Boy: Nautical Scrapbook Page

Y'all will just have to forgive me for not being around as much for a few more days! Please? The kids' drama production has turned into quite a huge time commitment and we've been at rehearsal nearly every day. I'm missing my scrappy time really badly so I made time to create a digital page the other night. I'd love to share it with you.

When I saw the latest free template from Scrapping With Liz, I thought the circles looked like bubbles. Thinking about bubbles led me to think about water, and I decided to use a Agnes Biro's "Nautical" kit to pull it all together. The journaling even reminds me of a wave. It says, "You stole my heart just like a pirate on the open sea." The font is one of my favs lately, it's called Bebas.

The Master Of Disaster

It's time for my weekly iPhoneography update! My DSLR is jealous, so I'll have to get Big Bertha out for a photoshoot soon. Until then... Instagram photos will have to do.

Last weekend Ronnie and I played an epic game of Monopoly that ended in me kicking his behind. I'm a good winner, but he's a very sore loser. I didn't even do my victory dance. Ha!

Monday found us in the pediatrician's office again. All three of the kids had pink eye. I swear, they should just give us our own room. We could move furniture in and just stay there. Two pediatrician visits in less than a week. It must be a record!

We had drama practice almost every day last week. We were waiting for the other kids to get there when my kids decided to strike a dramatic pose. As you can see, they are very good at drama! Hopefully all of the acting that they do will keep the drama level down on the home front. Girls can be SO mercurial.

The girls had a book club meeting at the Abita library on Tuesday and Brandon colored half a million coloring sheets while we waited. He is such a good boy and I love him to bits and pieces. (Even though he gave ME pinkeye.)

After the book club meeting, I brought all three of the kids to Lowes to buy Ronnie's Father's Day present. We bought him one of those cool towels that they keep advertising on television because he mentioned that he wanted one. We also bought dirt, mulch, and plants to redo the front garden. Marigolds and herbs!

I took Jordan to therapy on Thursday. She was really mad at me when I put her braces on but she cheered up when her occupational therapist let her make her own peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's good fine motor practice and she got a snack. Winning!

This is what Brandon did while Jordan went to therapy. He is really reading up a storm and he's fascinated with pirates. It all started with that Jake and the Neverland Pirates show. He's got a pile of Jake merch too. His Aunt Steph is keeping him supplied. She even bought him Jake swimming trunks this weekend.

You know what also happened Thursday? Drama practice! Again! The kids are really all doing such a great job. Brandon and Alexis have their lines completely memorized, but Jordan doesn't yet. Probably because she has the most lines. She's trying really hard, but since she's a perfectionist she gets super frustrated if we try to help.

Jordan had hippotherapy on Saturday and she was thrilled to be able to lead her horse to the arena for the first time. She's growing up so fast and she does an amazing job following the instructor's directions.

The kids spent the night at my sister-in-law's house on Saturday night so Ronnie and I had some time to ourselves. We went grocery shopping, to church, to dinner, to a car show, and then we watched a movie at home. The first few childless hours were nice, but after a while it was too quiet.

I just have to share this photo because I got the biggest giggle out of this sign we found under the hood of a gorgeous yellow Trans Am. Ha!

As you can imagine, when you're as busy as I've been this past week there's little time for housework. I spent the entire day today cleaning the house from top to bottom. I think I've washed, dried, and folded eight loads of laundry. You know who hasn't been cleaning? Jordan and Brandon. Their room is trashed. I'm trying not to go in there and do it myself but it's killing me!

I may have to take away their electronics until their room is clean. It's a last resort and they will be miserable, but I know it will work because I've had to do it before. I'm a mean, mean Momma!

Life Is A Highway: Tomorrowland Speedway Layout

I am back to scrapping Disney photos again! This time I scrapped the photos I took on the Tomorrowland Speedway ride in Disney World. I let Brandon drive our car and it was a miracle that I didn't end up with whiplash. He rammed the car from side to side because he thought it was funny.

He wasn't the only one who laughed at me! Alexis and Ronnie's Dad were in the car behind us and they smashed into the back of our car when we all stopped at the end of the ride. I turned back to snap this photo as they were cracking up! It's one of my favorite photos from the entire trip.

Most of the supplies for this page came from the June 2013 kit at The Sampler. I added a blingy Mickey head from Hydrangea Hippo and some car themed embellishments from my stash to round out my design.

Instagram Week In Review: iPhoneography

Last week was crazy! My friend went out of town and I spent the week keeping her dog. Her name is Patches and she's the sweetest thing. She makes us consider having another dog, but since Lady passed away we just haven't had the heart to get another one. It is nice that Patches comes to visit every now and then. We'll just settle for that for now.

Every morning last week I drove Brandon and Jordan to vacation Bible school. I spent a lot of time sitting in traffic on the way in and out of the church parking lot because they had over 600 kids in VBS at Church of the King. The kids had a wonderful time and they were super sad when it was over!

All three of the kids tried out for a play at one of our local libraries on Monday. We're still waiting to hear which parts they got. I should know later this week! They are all very excited to participate.

I took Alexis in to see the pediatrician on Tuesday for her 11 year old well check up. I still can't believe that she's that old! The doctor plotted her height on the chart and she estimates that she won't ever be bigger than five feet tall. Alexis was not thrilled to hear that at all! My friends have all told her that good things come in small packages.

She had to get her finger poked so she could get her iron levels checked and she got a whopping three shots! She did a great job being still even though I'm sure the shots hurt like crazy. She asked me to take this photo of her band aid after it was all over. She was impressed that it matched her shirt!

We went to an awesome program at another local library on Wednesday. We learned about planting victory gardens during World War II. The kids were fascinated to hear about all of the ways that children who were their age helped during the war effort.

They each got a packet of seeds so they could plant their own victory garden at home. Here they are holding their seed packets in front of the WWII National Museum van. I thought it made for a super cute photo opportunity.

Brandon lost his first tooth on Thursday. We noticed that it was very wiggly while we were sitting in the waiting room at Jordan's therapy office. He was thrilled with his first visit from the tooth fairy. Contrary to popular opinion, (Mandy!) the tooth fairy doesn't bring $10.00 for your first lost tooth. She brings sparkly dollar bills!

Friday was the last day of VBS, so Alexis and I met the little kids at Church Of The King to watch the closing ceremonies. Once the program was over, we went to an art class at The Castine Center. We wanted to make something for Ronnie for Father's Day and the tin can wind chime class was an absolute blast!

Somehow I ended up with more pain on me than on the cans... Story of my life! Alexis got paint all over her clothes too so I didn't feel terrible. It's not an awesome crafty project unless you wear it, right?

This is the finished set of wind chimes. The kids couldn't wait a single day to give them to Ronnie. I had to find a stick to hang them on so I stopped on the side of the road in our subdivision and yanked one off of a tree that was hanging over a ditch. The kids were yelling at me... OMGosh MOM! Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! I also used a saw all by myself. I totally rock if I do say so myself.

I'll be back soon with more scrapbook projects to share! I hope you all had an awesome week too.

A Dolphin Tale Museum Layout: Vacation 2013

Last week I got a little bored with scrapping Disney photos, so I pulled some of the pictures that I took at the Dolphin Tale Adventure Museum to scrap. I have an absolute TON of photos from the Clearwater day of our vacation. I managed to use the last few scraps of my May 2013 My Creative Scrapbook kit to get through a whopping eight photos!

My design was based on a recent layout that Susan Weinroth did for Studio Calico. It was so adorable that I just couldn't resist lifting it. The .svg file came from the fabulous Ashley Horton's blog. She offered it as a freebie a few weeks ago. Thanks for the inspiration ladies!

A Pair Of Feminine Cards

I'm almost finished with my May 2013 main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. I made a set of two cards with some of the smaller scraps. I still had plenty of embellishments left over and I just couldn't file them away. This is what I made! I loved the sheer white ribbon that came in the kit. I tied it into a bow near the bottom of the first card. It was inspired by a card sketch that was created by Kimber McGray at Two Peas.

The second project was inspired by Danni Reid's "Going My Way" card. I added some twine to the kit to create some interest on the bingo card. I love the feminine, girly way this one turned out.

I'm not a very girly scrapper, and I don't have a ton of cards that I can give to girls in my stash. These two cards filled that nicely.

I Wanna Ride: Hippotherapy Horse Show

Remember the horse show I mentioned? I finally got the photos edited and ready to share. Miss Jordan only returned to riding a few weeks ago, but when she found out about the horse show she wanted to do it. I was concerned that she wouldn't have time to learn the entire routine, but she did a great job even though she was super nervous.

Her nerves calmed down a little once she got to talk to her horse. It looked like they were having a very serious conversation about strategy! Kit Kat appears to be paying very close attention.

Hippotherapy_Horse Show_Special Needs

Here she is getting ready to start the course... She was still extremely nervous. Once she began riding through, her nerves melted away and she forgot to be anxious.

She even got Kit Kat to stop right by the barrel so she could pick up her ring. She had trouble with that at the last horse show, and it was her biggest concern. "Mom, Sometimes Kit Kat just doesn't stop when I tell her to!" I tell her that Kit Kat is old and hard headed. Plus, Jordan is so light that I don't think she pulls hard enough. Not this time! She yanked and yelled, "WHOA!"

She placed second and we were all SO very proud of her. She did an absolutely amazing job! I have a photo of her with her ribbon, but I can't post it here because I don't have permission to post the other kids standing in the photo.
